The course is designed to improve best practice by giving a clear understanding of the requirements and significance of each section of the Financial Assessment form and the consequences of not completing it correctly or in a timely manner.

This is an interactive session providing an opportunity to take an in depth look at the Financial Assessment form and get clarification on areas with might give rise to questions, including reference to mental capacity, deprivation, and debt recovery.

The session will take place via Teams meeting online.  It is for any Council social workers requiring a refresh, new social workers in the SSA and those new to working at Richmond and Wandsworth.

Training objectives

The course will:

Increase your understanding of the key areas in Financial Assessment and Charging which commonly cause confusion

Highlight best practice

Help you to understand the consequences of missing key points in the assessment procedure

Help you to avoid those pitfalls.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course participants will have a good understanding of:

have a good understanding of the importance of all key areas of the Financial Asssessment form - have clarity on the pitfalls of getting it wrong

understand the improtance of timely and accurate assessment and - how to avoid situations that end up in debt recovery.
